A morale-boosting performance for the Kootenay Hockey Academy has the club singing the right notes as the post season arrives in short order.
The final regular season JPHL Showcase for KHA produced a pair of close wins for the club to put a bow on the program's initial campaign.
On Friday, February 9, KHA skated to a narrow 2-1 win over Lloydminster. Carson Kraft and Louis Prystupa accounted for KHA's scoring, while goalie Dane De Marchi turned aside 26 of 27 shots.
Saturday, February 10, was another close game with KHA beating Calgary 5-4 in overtime. KHA erased an early 3-1 deficit and forced OT with a goal in the final minute of regulation. The overtime hero was Kootenay's Avery Lynch, while Adam Milke and Soren Nicol each had a goal and Rhett Steel netted 2 tallies.
The final game of the showcase, and regular season, came on February 11 with Edmonton beating KHA 6-1, Danik Reeves had the academy's only goal of the game.
With regular season in the rear view, KHA sets their sights on the post season. They'll begin with a play in matchup versus Lethbridge on February 23.
