The Kootenay Hockey Academy is in hibernation for the holidays, this follows an exciting few days of hockey after the JPHL Winter Championships in mid-December.
KHA started the tournament versus Edmonton on December 13. The game ended in an 8-3 loss for the local club, goals came from Jayden Logodi, Curtis Cawte and Louis Prystupa.
December 14's game was a 6-4 win for KHA versus Lethbridge United. The academy fell 2-0 early in the first period, but a goal from Prystupa cut Lethbridge's lead to 2-1 at intermission. KHA got second period goals from Adam Milke and Soren Nicol, tying the game 3-3 after forty minutes. Third period goals from Alex Johnson, Dennon Melnyk and Prystupa secured the 6-4 win for KHA.
Their last game was December 15, a 10-3 loss to the Calgary Rockies. Avery Lynch, Danik Reeves and Melnyk potted KHA's goals in the loss.
The academy returns to action for their first JPHL Showcase of 2024 in Delta January 4-7.
