Inaugural KHA season ends following Play In loss to Lloydminster

Feb. 27, 2024

A season to remember for Kootenay Hockey Academy has come to an end following last weekend's JPHL play ins.

KHA began the play ins with a 4-3 win in a do or die matchup with Lethbridge, academy forward Danik Reeves scored the game winning goal in the third period while short handed and goaltender Jaxon Loewen stopped 42 of 45 shots.

Friday's win gave the Kootenay squad a chance to battle for a playoff spot on Saturday versus Lloydminster, however KHA lost that contest 6-3.

Saturday's loss spelled the end of the road for the 2023-24 edition of the Kootenay Hockey Academy.

The program made plenty of strides in its first season, setting building blocks for the future.

Congrats to all players, staff, coaches and billets who made the season a success, and best of luck to all graduating players.

See you next season!
